As I was driving into work I was behind a tC and it struck me tC ... Toyota Celica ... Now I know there is a lot of talk about this was the replacement but nothing very official from Toytoa and Scion being the "youth brand" but is the naming just a coincidence or does anyone have more insight into it?
Here's some memories from the glory days for your time.

No insight, but I really wish the tC was a better car, not just a Corolla with a body kit. It's a nice looking whip, but it needs a good turbo-4 or something pulling it along.

Show me a Scion TC all-trac turbo and I'll drink the Kool Aid.

Those are some skinny-ass tires. Why?

Apparently tC means 'touring coupe'.

tC doesn't mean as much as you think it does. It's named "tC" because Toyota couldn't go with "xC" as Volvo owns that. Otherwise their lineup (at the time) would have been xA, xB, xC, xD, etc etc.
Also it's based on the Toyota Avensis, not the Celica.

There are a lot of rumors that it was in fact on purpose. The Celica ended in 05 and the tC began that same year. They are also rather similar.
I do think there is a connection

Because ice! Narrow tires cut through the snow better to find the hard stuff underneath for the studs to grab.

I might too if they brought that to WRC

It needs more Castrol stickers an All-Trac or GT-Four badge and a snorkle but its a step in the right direction

It's a picture from the 1993 Safari Rally. What do you do afterwards? Shake it all off!

Considering the tC was released a decade ago, that's probably along the lines of conspiracy theory than anything else.

I never picked up on that, and you may be right, but I immediately thought about the scene from Frisky Dingo where Killface realizes that PC stands for Personal Computer.

I always thought it was "TerCel"

The Tercel/Paseo gave way for the Echo. I always joke with a buddy that his "tC" stands for "Total Crap"
